MF Global History Timeline

1783	James Man establishes commodities brokerage in London
1869	Firm renamed E D & F Man by grandsons Edward Desborough Man and Frederick Man
1956	Firm specializes in brokering sugar, cocoa, spices and produce
1971	Enters U.S. market
1981	Separate futures brokerage division established as E D & F Man International
1994	E D & F Man Group plc lists shares on the London Stock Exchange
1996	Enters Asian market
2001	Name changed to Man Financial; enters Australian market
2005	Acquires Refco futures brokerage businesses in U.S., Europe, India and Canada; as well as Lind-Waldock in Chicago
2007	MF Global separates from Man Group plc via IPO; lists shares on the NYSE. Acquires FXA Securities in Japan, and BrokerOne in Australia.
2008	Acquires ChoiceOdds in the U.K.
